It was early in the morning when Briar awoke with a start from an awful dream, dreams which were becoming more frequent lately. She sat up in bed while running a hand through her hair and looking at the clock on the wall, it read 8am and Briar let out a soft sigh. She knew that after her nightmare she would not get back to sleep so she decided to get dressed and head up to the owlery, her normal thinking place.

It was a Saturday morning so most students would still be sleeping soundly in their beds, she wasn't planning on seeing anyone on her way up there. She pulled on a pair of jeans and a jumper before pulling on her uggs and heading out of her dorm without even brushing her hair, she just pulled it up into a ponytail. With her she had a book and a small flask of firewhiskey, she didn't see the point in waiting till the afternoon to have a drink when she could have one right now.

While walking the hallways she was surprised to see several students already out of bed and making their way about the castle, which made her smile a little. To everyone else Briar Krum was a bitch not to be messed with, Quidditch beater and generally known as a slut, but that wasn't who she really wanted to be. The only person who really knew the real Briar was her big brother Vic, he was the one person in her life that she was comfortable telling her biggest secrets to.

When she finally reached the owlery she took a deep breath of the fresh air and smiled again, she loved the outside and sometimes wondered what it would be like to camp outside for the evening. She sat down somewhere that she had a perfect view of the sky out of an open window, seeing the light shadow of the moon as the sun was fighting to fully rise.

jade always got up early on saturdays out of habit. it'd actually turned into a tradition when she found out the kitchens made these amazing danishes but frequently ran out long before she normally slept in to. she just didn't sleep in anymore and always went bright and early to get her danishes with albus, and she found that she had a lot more time in the day to do the things she wanted to. sleeping the day away was no fun. this saturday morning was no different, she woke up bright and early at 5:45 am like clockwork, quickly got ready, met albus, and left the common room to meet her danish.

well what else was on jade's agenda today? she wasn't sure, in october quidditch started picking up but albus hadn't scheduled practice until later in the day to save some of the other members on the squad who had stayed up a little too late and slept in. she left albus to do his own bidding and jade decided it would be nice to write to her parents-- it'd only be appropriate considering the time of year. they'd want to be hearing from her anyway, so she sat down and wrote a thoughtful letter. a little short, but that was normal. she smiled when she signed her name and a heart at the bottom and rolled it up, ready to take it to the family owl waiting at the owlery.

at this point, it was just after 8 in the morning and jade was feeling fresh and ready for the day as she passed sleepy students as they headed toward the great hall. walking out to the owlery was a little bit chilly, and when she walked inside and she was welcomed by the pungent smell of the birds and feathers everywhere, but it wasn't that bad. jade looked around for her owl when her eyes caught a glimpse of someone looking out the window. it was briar. jade didn't know her extremely well, but they were roommates and they were on the same quidditch team and got to know each other a little more through that-- but they weren't exactly best friends or anything. "briar? hey!" jade said, looking at her as she climbed the stairs. "you haven't seen my owl, have you?" she asked her, still looking for it.
